In a major milestone for the highly-anticipated return of the EA Sports College Football video game series, Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe has been prominently featured in promotional artwork released on the Playstation Store. The striking visual shows Milroe from behind in his crimson and white Crimson Tide uniform as part of a group of player avatars emerging from a tunnel onto a virtual football field.
The promo art, which surfaced on May 10th, 2024, appears to be for the “Deluxe Edition” of EA Sports College Football 2025 according to the banner. This has fueled speculation that the image could be one of the main covers for the game when it launches this summer after an almost decade-long hiatus.
While EA has not officially confirmed the covers yet, the art is clearly highlighting certain marquee players like Texas QB Quinn Ewers, Michigan RB Donovan Edwards, and Five-star Colorado recruit Travis Hunter, who are prominently featured in the foreground. Milroe can be spotted just behind them in the second row.
Other big names included are Georgia quarterback Carson Beck and Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins, though many other players are shown in the background blur without being easily identifiable.
If Milroe does grace the cover, he would become just the second Alabama player to ever appear on an EA Sports college football game cover. The last was running back Mark Ingram, who was the cover athlete for NCAA Football 12 over 10 years ago.
The NCAA video game series went on hiatus in 2014 after disputes over athlete name, image and likeness rights. With those issues resolved by recent NIL rules changes, EA has revived the franchise as a re-branded “College Football” series without using the NCAA name but still featuring real players, teams, and stadiums.
A short teaser trailer was released in February revealing July 2024 as the expected full release date, following a more in-depth reveal planned for later this month according to the game’s official social media accounts.
The re-emergence of the wildly popular NCAA football game franchise has been met with massive hype and anticipation. And Milroe’s prominent role in the promo images indicates Alabama’s star QB will be a main face of the launch for the must-have title.
