The Indiana Fever are hitting their stride.
With Caitlin Clark leading the charge, scoring 18 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, dishing out six assists, and snagging four steals, the Fever clinched their third consecutive victory on Wednesday night, triumphing over the Washington Mystics 88-81.
This marks the Fever’s longest winning streak this season, bringing their record to 6-10. After beginning the season with a 1-8 record, they’ve now secured victories in five of their last seven games.
Unsurprisingly, Fever fans were ecstatic following the win, and analysts have taken notice of the team’s impressive streak:
Clark’s ongoing development has been crucial to this surge, though she’s far from the only contributor. On Wednesday, Aliyah Boston added 22 points and eight rebounds, while Kelsey Mitchell matched her with 22 points.
Ariel Atkins did her best to keep the Mystics competitive, leading all scorers with 27 points, but her efforts were not enough to carry her team.
The Fever are now eyeing a genuine playoff opportunity. Although much of the season is still ahead, Indiana currently occupies the No. 8 seed and appears to be hitting their stride.
Clark continues to shine, though there’s still room for improvement. Turnovers remain an issue (six against the Mystics), and her three-point shooting has yet to reach its potential (32.8 percent heading into Wednesday).
However, the Fever are learning to function better as a cohesive unit, and their victory over the Mystics showcased their potential when firing on all cylinders. Boston provides a formidable presence in the paint, and the team boasts strong supporting players behind her and Clark.
The season started off tough for the Fever, but they are clearly finding their rhythm.
