A’ja Wilson is leading the charge in early fan voting for the WNBA All-Star Game, edging out Caitlin Clark by just over a thousand votes, according to the league’s announcement on Friday.
Aliyah Boston, Clark’s teammate from Indiana, is currently in third place, trailing the top contenders by about 40,000 votes.
Wilson is enjoying a phenomenal season, averaging 27.9 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. She has accumulated 217,773 votes so far, with Clark close behind at 216,427.
Last season, Wilson also topped the fan vote leaderboard, but with a much lower total of 95,860 votes.
New York’s Breanna Stewart is in fourth place, while Dallas’ Arike Ogunbowale sits in fifth. Chicago’s Angel Reese ranks seventh, making her the only other rookie in the top 10. First-year players Cameron Brink and Kate Martin are just outside the top 10, in 11th and 12th positions.
Completing the top 10 are Sabrina Ionescu from New York in sixth, Kelsey Plum from Las Vegas in eighth, Napheesa Collier from Minnesota in ninth, and Dearica Hamby from Los Angeles in tenth.
All-Star Game Details
The WNBA All-Star Game is set for July 20 in Phoenix, featuring a showdown between WNBA All-Stars and the U.S. Olympic team.
All-Stars are selected through a combination of fan votes (50%), current WNBA players’ votes (25%), and media votes (25%).
When voting ends, the top 10 vote-getters will be named All-Star Game participants, with those also on the U.S. Olympic team staying with their team. The remaining WNBA team spots will be filled by coaches, choosing from the next 36 highest vote-getters, which must include 15 post players and nine guards.
Coaches cannot vote for their own players.
The final WNBA All-Star Game rosters will be revealed on July 2.
