Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark is not just making waves with her impressive scoring and assisting; she’s also becoming known for her trash-talking prowess.
Clark recently engaged in a heated exchange with Seattle Storm veteran Victoria Vivians and mimicked Michael Jordan’s famous shrug during a match against the Chicago Sky. The Fever had built a 15-point lead before ultimately losing the crucial game.
While much of the sports media spotlight has been on Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese and her trash-talking, Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon pointed out that Clark is equally vocal on the court.
“At the end of the day, both Clark and Reese are incredibly talented and entertaining to watch,” Hammon commented during a press conference alongside Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon. “They definitely know how to jaw at each other.”
“No one talks more smack than Caitlin,” Hammon added. “I saw Angel and NaLyssa (Smith) going at it recently. This generation is different—they’re bold and in-your-face with their talk, and that’s fine. They’re grown women.”
In a recent coaching clash between former New York Liberty stars, Las Vegas triumphed over Chicago, 95-83.
Clark, who averages 16.3 points and 6.6 assists per game, stands out among WNBA rookies. Reese, with her 13.2 points and 11.1 rebounds per game, is the only rookie maintaining a double-double, while Clark leads in assists with over 2.1 per game.
Clark’s dynamic presence on and off the court continues to captivate fans and challenge opponents, solidifying her status as a rising star in the WNBA.
