The Indiana Fever’s social media team has been on fire lately, brilliantly filling the month-long WNBA hiatus with a mix of entertainment and pure comedy gold. Their latest hit? A ‘Draw Your Teammate’ series that’s as much about artistic skill as a horse is about flying.

Friday’s edition starred guard Erica Wheeler, who boldly took on the challenge of sketching her teammate, the unstoppable rookie Caitlin Clark. Spoiler alert: the result was nothing short of side-splitting.

“She’s gonna be so mad,” Wheeler chuckled, perhaps aware that her drawing looked more like an abstract Picasso than a straightforward portrait. When Clark finally got her hands on Wheeler’s masterpiece, her reaction was a delightful blend of amusement and bemusement.

“E-Dub thinks I got nice eyelashes, huh?” Clark quipped, flashing a smile that could light up a room. Indeed, in the world of amateur artistry, it seems that even eyelashes can be a statement.

“Nobody ever puts eyelashes on their people when they draw them like this. Aw, that’s cute,” Clark continued, clearly tickled by the unexpected compliment. With a grin, she added, “I got a good smile, nice hair, and some pretty eyelashes.”

But of course, Caitlin couldn’t let Wheeler off the hook that easily. With the finesse of a seasoned roaster, she pointed out, “It’s just like sockets with no eyeballs. They’re just sockets.” Ouch. If eyes are the windows to the soul, Wheeler’s drawing was definitely due for some new window treatments.

Not one to let the opportunity for a playful dig slip by, Clark concluded the video with a confident, “I did better.” A declaration that, in the spirit of friendly competition, might just inspire a rematch on the sketchpad.

This isn’t just about the laughs, though. It’s a testament to the camaraderie and chemistry within the Fever team. While WNBA fans eagerly await the return of the games, these glimpses into the lighter side of team life are a reminder that the sport is as much about personality and fun as it is about skill and strategy.

The Fever’s social media team deserves a standing ovation for turning what could have been a mundane break into a series of delightful, memorable moments. And to Erica Wheeler: keep the doodles coming. Because if there’s one thing we know, it’s that laughter might just be the best play of the season.
