Caitlin Clark didn’t seem too heartbroken when she found out she wouldn’t be representing Team USA in the upcoming Paris Olympics. Instead, she’s making the most of her time off, enjoying the sun and sea with Indiana Fever teammates Lexie Hull and Katie Lou Samuelson. And honestly, who needs an Olympic medal when you have a tan line that perfect?
Clark, ever the candid one, told reporters that not making the Olympic team was a “motivating” experience. Nothing says motivation like lounging on a boat, right? She assured fans that the snub would fuel her fire to compete in the 2028 Olympics. In the meantime, she’s embracing her downtime to recover from a few nagging injuries and perfect her suntan.
Lexie Hull couldn’t resist sharing some FOMO-inducing snaps on Instagram. In the photos, Hull, Clark, and Samuelson are living their best lives on a boat, far from the pressures of the court. Aliyah Boston chimed in on the post with “The cutest mermaids [love emojis],” while Temi Fagbenle aptly added, “Enjoymentttt.”
The Indiana Fever crew last hit the hardwood on July 18, falling to the Dallas Wings 101-93. With their next game not until August 17, they have plenty of time to perfect their boat pose and maybe work on a trick shot or two. The break also gives Clark a chance to gear up for a showdown against some real Olympians: Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner, and the rest of the Phoenix Mercury.
Clark and Boston recently flexed their muscles at the All-Star game, leading Team WNBA to a 117-109 victory over Team USA. Clark’s stats were arguably more impressive than some of the players who made the Olympic roster, but hey, maybe Team USA needed someone who could tie a better boat knot.
In her own words, Clark is using this vacation as an opportunity to hit the weight room and work on her core – because nothing says “I’m coming back stronger” like a solid six-pack. “It’s a great opportunity for myself to get in the weight room to work on the core and work on the things that I wanna get better at that maybe I didn’t have time going from college to the pro season, so I’m looking forward to it,” she shared.
So while some of her peers are gearing up for the Olympic spotlight, Caitlin Clark is soaking up the rays and preparing to come back with a vengeance. Expect her, Boston, and Samuelson to show everyone why they deserved those Team USA spots when the WNBA season resumes.
In the end, it’s not just about the medals and the fame – it’s also about the journey, the fun, and the occasional boat ride with friends. And if you ask Clark, she’s got the best of both worlds: a little bit of motivation, a lot of fun, and one heck of a tan.
Caitlin Clark and her Indiana Fever teammates are making the most of their time off, enjoying a well-deserved break from the basketball grind. Stay tuned for more updates as they return to the court, ready to prove their worth and perhaps take a few more boat trips along the way.
