From College Sensation to WNBA Dynamo: Clark’s Magic is Unstoppable, Just as Lobo Called It!

When Caitlin Clark wrapped up her mind-boggling college career earlier this year, the basketball world was split. Some skeptics doubted whether her explosive play would survive the jump to the WNBA. But then, there was Rebecca Lobo—cool, calm, and apparently clairvoyant.

Yes, the WNBA legend’s prophecy has aged like fine wine, as Clark’s rookie season with the Indiana Fever has been nothing short of spellbinding. Back in February, Lobo fired off a tweet that now feels more like a spoiler alert than a prediction, stating that Clark would not only adjust to the WNBA but might just make a cozy little home in the MVP conversation.

“If @CaitlinClark22 gets drafted to the @IndianaFever this summer, I believe she will put up MVP-caliber numbers as a rookie,” Lobo posted on X (formerly known as Twitter, for those living under a rock). “While her opponents will be at a different skill level than in college, her teammates will be at another level as well. Her game translates.”

"She is the best passer in the league right now."

And translate it has—like a masterpiece being dubbed into every language known to mankind. Clark is currently dropping 17.8 points per game, paired with a league-best 8.3 assists. It’s almost as if Clark heard Lobo’s words and thought, “Challenge accepted.” While the MVP crown is still firmly resting on Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson’s head, Clark is making sure everyone knows she’s not just here for the participation trophy.

But here’s where the story gets spicy. Lobo didn’t exactly receive bouquets of roses for her hot take back in February. The X (Twitter) masses, always ready with their pitchforks, practically roasted her for daring to suggest that a rookie could storm the league and play like she owns the place.

Fast forward to today, and those same skeptics are either silently deleting their past comments or pretending they never doubted Clark for a second. An account named “The Clark Report” recently resurfaced Lobo’s old tweet, pointing out the tidal wave of criticism she received. “Rebecca Lobo correctly predicted the future about Caitlin Clark and got COOKED for it at the time,” the post read. “Reading the replies to her tweet now is crazy.”

Lobo, in true humble-brag fashion, has continued to shower Clark with praise as the season progresses. She recently dubbed Clark “the best passer in the league,” which, let’s be honest, is a compliment coming from a basketball brainiac like Lobo.

So here we are, folks, watching a rookie crush it in the WNBA while living out the prophecy laid down by a legend. Clark’s game is everything Lobo promised it would be and then some. For all those who doubted, well, there’s always next season to get on board the Clark hype train—if there’s any room left.
