South Carolina basketball star Bree Hall is entering her senior year with a bang — and a crown! Yes, folks, the two-time national champion just dropped a carousel of glamorous photos on Instagram that look like a “coming soon” preview for a blockbuster. And her Gamecocks family and fans? They’re eating it up.
Captioned “coming soonn #year4,” Hall’s post shows her in full Gamecocks uniform, hitting pose after pose with a little royal flair. In one snap, she sits regal as ever, crown perched on her head, holding a basketball in one hand and displaying not one but two NCAA trophies, because of course.
Among the many supporters filling her comments were her teammate Chloe Kitts and South Carolina alum Aliyah Boston, who just couldn’t hold back. Kitts, the team’s junior forward, dropped a cheeky “oh hey there 😏,” while Boston, now with the Indiana Fever, added an enthusiastic “Face card🥰🥰” and doubled down with “LAST YEAR BEST YEAR BIG BREEZE🔥.” And who could blame her? Hall’s on-court style is giving MVP vibes already.
Teammate Raven Johnson, clearly at a loss for words, went the emoji route, because some levels of swag just speak for themselves. But as fans know, Hall’s work ethic backs up every post. She’s coming off a stellar junior year, where she played in every single game, helping the Gamecocks go undefeated with an insane 38-0 record. Averaging 9.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game, she’s got numbers — and trophies — to match her energy.
Now, as the No. 1 team heading into the new season, South Carolina is bringing back nearly its entire core. According to Hall, the team’s “chemistry hasn’t changed at all.” And by chemistry, she doesn’t mean just throwing a few good passes — these Gamecocks are more than teammates. “We love each other real hard. We’ve got each other’s back,” Hall said, making clear that this team is as tight-knit as it gets.
Of course, Coach Dawn Staley’s got her own take on this group. “I like for our teams to take on their own identity,” she said, adding with a grin, “This team, they’re silly.” Silly or not, they’re competitive to the core, and Coach Staley knows when they’re “working hard” and “respectful,” they’re unstoppable.
Only two players, Kamilla Cardoso (now with the Chicago Sky) and Sahnya Jah (joining Arizona), left the team in the offseason. That means the returning powerhouse of Raven Johnson, Chloe Kitts, and new recruit Te-Hina Paopao will be right alongside Hall as they aim for yet another championship.
The action kicks off for Hall and her Gamecocks squad against Michigan in Las Vegas, where Hall will also represent the team as a nominee on the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award watchlist. And if her Instagram is any sign, she’s more than ready to turn up the heat.
So get your popcorn, Gamecocks fans. With Hall and company hyped to defend their title and own the court with sass and skill, this season’s going to be a wild ride.
