Reese, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year runner-up (or as we like to say, the first place loser), welcomed Roach for a style critique. “I get it, you’re tall, you want to show off those legs, but here’s the thing—how about wearing more clothes?” Roach quipped, to Reese’s apparent amusement (or was it quiet horror?). His blunt assessment, delivered around the 41-minute mark of the episode, left no room for ambiguity. “You love your height, but I just want to see more layers, you know, let’s throw a jacket or two into the mix.”
Clearly, this was no gentle pat on the back.
The Chicago Sky rookie, who made a splash in her first WNBA season not just with her game but also with her tunnel looks, had one simple follow-up: What would you have me wear then, Mr. Fashion Guru?
Cue Roach’s expert strategy: “This is my process,” he began. “I’d bring in racks of clothes—like, seriously, racks on racks. You’ll pick what you love, then we’ll throw that out and I’ll show you what you should be wearing.” Alright, he didn’t exactly say that last part, but he might as well have.
In all seriousness, Roach offered a glimpse into his method for curating personal style. “I’d have you pick out what speaks to you, and then we’d work with that to really build your look,” he explained, already thinking about how to turn Reese into the WNBA’s next big fashion icon, one layer at a time.
Now, while Reese’s rebounding skills and defensive prowess are undeniable, her fashion game might need some finessing if she’s going to match her on-court dominance. “I’m going to walk in a VS Fashion Show! Mark my words,” Reese boldly proclaimed on Instagram. We can’t help but admire her confidence—though Law Roach might have a few more layers in mind for that walk.
