Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever’s ace and newly minted bracelet warrior, survived a grueling ordeal during Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” that left her circulation — and not her basketball handles — in jeopardy. Clark, who’s no stranger to performing under pressure, may have met her match at the Lucas Oil Stadium, where she faced off against hordes of enthusiastic Swifties who armed her with friendship bracelets.
“I had them all the way up my arm. I had to take them off because my circulation was getting cut off,” Clark confessed, clearly unprepared for the cutthroat world of fan-to-fan bracelet bartering. “Everyone was just chucking their bracelets at me.”
Swift, the queen of pop and friendship bracelet exchanges, held two concerts in Indianapolis from Nov. 1 to 3, and Clark, a dedicated follower of the “Swiftie” creed, was there both nights. Not only was she in the same VIP section as NFL star Travis Kelce — otherwise known as Mr. Taylor Swift — but she also appeared to enjoy the exchange of bracelets with fans, minus the near-amputation experience.
When asked about the experience, Clark was both humble and in awe. “I’ve seen her three times now, and every time it’s like the show gets better. You leave an even bigger fan.” What a glowing endorsement! Clearly, Clark knows a thing or two about great performances.
Travis Kelce and Caitlin Clark: The Meeting of Sports Titans (and Swifties)
As if Clark’s blood circulation wasn’t enough drama, the basketball star also had a special moment meeting Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce during the Nov. 2 show. Kelce, on his New Heights podcast with his brother, Jason, gushed about the encounter. “Saw Caitlin Clark there, got to meet her. She’s awesome. She was into the show, for sure,” Kelce said, as if meeting one of the best players in the WNBA was the second-most exciting thing that happened to him that night. (Sorry, Travis, you’re second place when Taylor’s in the building.)
Clark, who attended the concert with her mom and friends, is clearly enjoying her offseason — and making time for all things Swiftie-related. Though, it might be the last time she lets a crowd of fans pile jewelry on her like she’s a human arm stand. Who knew that Swift’s concerts required both star power and survival skills?
Bracelets, Kelce, and Basketball — Caitlin Clark’s Epic Offseason Adventure
After two consecutive nights of Taylor Swift magic and a brief but memorable brush with NFL royalty, Clark was still glowing (though possibly nursing a bruised wrist). Swifties might be known for their enthusiasm, but nobody prepared the star athlete for their literal hands-on generosity.
With Swift heading to Toronto for the next leg of the Eras Tour and Clark heading back to her basketball grind, this offseason memory is one she won’t forget soon. Whether she’ll wear the remaining bracelets to Fever practice is another matter. If anyone can pull off high fashion with friendship bracelets, it’s Caitlin Clark — just maybe not all at once.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift’s global domination continues, with concerts in Toronto and Vancouver before wrapping up in December. No word yet if Clark will make it to those shows, but after almost losing a limb, maybe she’ll just tune in from the comfort of a courtside seat.
