Who knew Jan Jensen had moves back in the day? Apparently, not Caitlin Clark.

The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year and current Indiana Fever star recently discovered her former Iowa Hawkeyes coach’s college highlight reel—and let’s just say the footage left her equal parts amused and astonished.

To set the stage: Clark spent her entire collegiate career balling under Jensen, who served as the associate coach to Lisa Bluder. When Clark turned pro, Jensen got promoted to head coach—a decision that had Iowa fans collectively saying, “Well, duh.” But what Clark didn’t know during her four years of setting the court on fire was that her mentor could once shoot the lights out, too.

When the Iowa Women’s Basketball Team unearthed a vintage clip of Jensen hooping during her days as a forward for Drake, the internet—and Clark—lost it.

“This can’t be real 🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭,” Clark wrote in the Instagram comments, probably while doubled over laughing.

But wait, it gets better. Clark, who is no stranger to dissecting shooting forms (just ask her WNBA opponents), couldn’t resist taking a dig at Jensen’s technique.

“Bruh she still shoots EXACTLY like this😭,” she added, because why pass up a chance to troll your old coach?

Jensen Fires Back

Of course, Jan Jensen wasn’t going to let that slide. The Hawkeyes head coach responded with a comment dripping in sass and self-awareness:

“To all the ‘Bruhs’ commenting …namely @caitlinclark22 … this shootah had game for days!😜🤩 (vertical may be questionable, but I did jump over a chair and a fan!😎🤷🏼‍♀️)”

Let’s unpack that. First of all, props to Jensen for throwing shade right back at Clark while simultaneously bragging about a stunt that sounds straight out of an ‘80s action movie. Second, the internet is now clamoring for a vertical leap showdown between coach and star.

Players Join the Party

Naturally, the rest of the Hawkeyes family joined in on the roast fest.

“Shooters gonna shoot,” chimed in Las Vegas Aces guard and Iowa alum Kate Martin, clearly doubling down on the hilarity.

“She’s a dawg 🔥,” hyped current Iowa player Gabie Marshall, proving that Jensen’s old-school swagger is officially Hawkeyes canon.

And junior Jada Gyamfi? She summed it up perfectly: “Nahhh this is cold.”

The Legacy Lives On

While the highlight reel turned into a comedy goldmine, it’s worth noting that Jensen’s coaching game is as solid as her (questionable) vertical. Now leading the Hawkeyes, she’s undefeated in her first four games as head coach, a perfect start to her reign after Lisa Bluder’s retirement.

As for Clark, she may have traded Iowa City for the WNBA, but her knack for keeping things light and hilarious clearly hasn’t gone anywhere.

Moral of the story? Even the greats like Caitlin Clark can still find time to roast their coaches. And if you’ve got a dusty highlight reel out there, brace yourself—because Clark might be coming for you next.
