KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City is about to welcome the basketball equivalent of a rock star. Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever guard who seems to shoot three-pointers with her eyes closed, will headline the 2025 Women’s Sports Awards at T-Mobile Center on Feb. 4. WIN for KC, the local nonprofit that’s empowering girls and women through sports (because someone’s got to), made the announcement, and the city is already buzzing.
For those living under a rock—or perhaps without ESPN—Clark is kind of a big deal. She led the Iowa Hawkeyes to three straight Big 10 championships, dominated college basketball, and then strutted into the WNBA as the No. 1 overall pick in 2024. Oh, and that draft? The most-watched in WNBA history. No biggie. Naturally, she wrapped up her rookie season with a casual WNBA Rookie of the Year award.
Taylor Obersteadt, Director of WIN for KC, couldn’t be more thrilled:
“As we honor the incredible women and girls changing the sports game in Kansas City, who better to join us than Caitlin Clark? She’s one of the world’s most exciting athletes and a powerhouse for good through her foundation.”
Clark, apparently not satisfied with just dominating on the court, uses her Caitlin Clark Foundation to ensure girls everywhere have the opportunity to play sports, gain confidence, and dream big. (Superwoman much?)
The Women’s Sports Awards, hosted at the famed T-Mobile Center—a hub for Big 12 basketball and NCAA action—is shaping up to be a must-attend event. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m., but let’s be honest, they’ll be gone faster than a Clark fast break.
When asked about her role, Clark said, “Sports have shaped my life in every way possible, teaching me teamwork, resilience, and confidence that I carry beyond the court.” She added, with her trademark humility, “WIN for KC does incredible work creating opportunities for girls and women in sports, and I’m honored to celebrate their impact.”
So, mark your calendars, sports fans. On Feb. 4, Caitlin Clark will remind Kansas City why she’s the queen of the hardwood—and maybe inspire a new generation to pick up a basketball, too.
And for those lucky enough to score tickets, just remember: This isn’t just an awards show. It’s Caitlin Clark’s court. We’re all just living in it.
