Caitlin Clark has officially traded the WNBA hardwood for the golf course greens—at least for the off-season. And in true Clark fashion, the Indiana Fever standout is taking her love for golf to the next level, preparing to compete in an LPGA pro-am event. Joining golfing legends like Annika Sorenstam and Nelly Korda, Clark’s next adventure is set to unfold at The Annika in Florida next month, giving her a shot at adding “golf sensation” to her résumé.
Her newfound coach, ex-LPGA player Martha Foyer-Faulconer, has been tasked with channeling Clark’s competitive spirit into her golf game, and early results have left her a little stunned. “This woman is a machine,” Faulconer revealed in a recent interview. “You don’t teach Caitlin Clark intensity—it’s already part of her DNA.”
To no one’s surprise, Clark has become a quick study on the green. After a bit of adjustment (and a nudge to loosen up those “basketball” shoulders), Clark’s already making strides. Faulconer has focused on the basics: stance tweaks, relaxed shoulders, and working from wedges up to drivers. “One session, and her shots were already soaring down the fairway. She’s impossible to stop!” Faulconer said.
While some WNBA players pick up side gigs in basketball leagues or sign endorsement deals during the off-season, Clark’s escape to golf isn’t just about skill-building. She finds peace on the course, often joking that the only opponent she’s trying to beat out there is her own perfectionism. “It’s nice to get a break and just clear my mind. On the course, it’s just me, the fairway, and maybe a little smack talk with my friends,” she shared.
And if the upcoming pro-am with Sorenstam and Korda is anything like her game on the court, Clark’s fellow golfers better be ready. With Clark now eyeing both baskets and birdies, her boundless competitive spirit has taken yet another arena by storm. As Foyer-Faulconer put it, “Some athletes dabble in hobbies—Caitlin Clark dominates them.”
