Cornhuskers Spike Drama as Caitlin Clark Comparisons Hit a Nerve

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are dominating the volleyball court like a freight train on turbo mode. They’ve bulldozed through 21 straight Big Ten wins, sweeping the Washington Huskies with ease. But, in the middle of their victory lap, a commentator managed to stir the pot by mentioning none other than Caitlin Clark, the basketball superstar who wasn’t even in the building. And oh boy, did Cornhuskers fans let the internet know about it.

During Nebraska’s 18th sweep of the season, in front of yet another sold-out crowd, a broadcaster drew a parallel between the team’s electrifying atmosphere and Clark’s gravitational pull in the basketball world. Nebraska faithful didn’t appreciate their volleyball queens being tethered to a sport they’ve likely only dabbled in during gym class.

One fan took to X (the artist formerly known as Twitter) to say, “This obsession with Clark is beyond annoying. We’ve got legends on the court, but sure, let’s compare them to someone who’s never touched a volleyball. Makes total sense!”

Another user chimed in, “Didn’t you know? Caitlin Clark is single-handedly responsible for Nebraska’s sell-out crowds last year. Without her, Memorial Stadium would’ve been a ghost town. Incredible stuff.” The sarcasm was as thick as a volleyball net.

The debate reached its peak when a fan declared, “These players have been dominating since before Clark could spell volleyball. Give them their due without dragging her into it.”

Meanwhile, in a completely unrelated universe, Caitlin Clark was probably just enjoying her Eras Tour vibes with Travis Kelce, blissfully unaware of the volley-drama her name sparked.

Who’s Next for the Cornhuskers?

After thrashing the Huskies in their Pacific Northwest tour, Nebraska is gearing up to face Minnesota on November 14. The Bob Devaney Center is ready to rock, and you can bet Cornhusker fans will be laser-focused on their team—no unwanted basketball comparisons, please.

Will Nebraska continue their jaw-dropping streak, or will Minnesota try to play spoiler? Either way, one thing is for sure: this squad doesn’t need borrowed star power to shine. The Cornhuskers are blazing their own trail, and they’d prefer the commentary to stay within their court, thank you very much.
