Upcoming Oppo Shocks Market with Dual-Periscope X7 Ultra: A Zooming Beast

HomeSmart Phone (Mobile)Upcoming Oppo Shocks Market with Dual-Periscope X7 Ultra: A Zooming Beast

Chinese tech giant Oppo recently unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the Find X7 Ultra, which brings several industry firsts to the table. Most notably, it is the world’s first phone to feature dual periscope telephoto cameras, allowing for powerful zoom capabilities. It also debuts Sony’s cutting-edge LYT-900 image sensor, promising massive improvements to dynamic range and low light photography.

In an era where smartphones increasingly compete on camera prowess, the Find X7 Ultra seems primed to set a new bar. Its spec sheet reads like a photographer’s fantasy – not only does it pack those double periscope lenses, but the main 50MP Sony LYT-900 sensor touts up to 11x greater dynamic range versus competitors according to Oppo. Paired with a 50MP ultra wide camera and Oppo’s partnership with iconic camera company Hasselblad, expectations are sky-high.

We set out to create a smartphone that captures images more akin to a high-end mirrorless camera than a phone,” said Brian Shen, VP of Product Marketing at Oppo. “The Find X7 Ultra delivers just that with its groundbreaking camera array and software tuning.”

Zooming In on the Details

Delving deeper into the cameras, that twin set of periscope telephotos allows seamless zooming from 14mm out to 270mm. For non-photogs, that means the Find X7 Ultra can shoot sweeping landscape vistas or hone in tightly on distant objects without image degradation. The main sensor combines with one periscope to enable 3x optical zoom, while the second periscope unlocks up to 6x, enabling up to 60x digital zoom overall.

Meanwhile, Oppo is also introducing its HyperTone engine developed alongside Hasselblad. This promises more naturalistic colors and lighting in all shots, not just when using manual camera modes.

Rounding out the photography package, the front-facing selfie camera opts for a 32MP sensor and AI beautification abilities.

Blazing Fast All Around

Beyond the cameras, the Find X7 Ultra impresses with top-shelf specs including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, up to 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and a 6.82″ 1440p display with adaptive 120Hz refresh rates. A 5000mAh battery keeps things chugging along, with support for blisteringly quick 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.

For smartphone shooters, the Find X7 Ultra looks ready to capture attention in 2024.
