The blockbuster film “Oppenheimer” was the big winner at the 29th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday night, taking home four top honors including Best Picture. Directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Robert Downey Jr., the epic dramatization of J. Robert Oppenheimer and the creation of the atomic bomb also earned Nolan the award for Best Director. Downey Jr. won Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of the enigmatic physicist.

In a surprise upset, the vibrant musical comedy “Barbie” won Best Comedy over favorites like “The Fabelmans.” “Barbie” dominated the awards with a record-setting 18 nominations, and ended up taking home five including Best Costume Design and Best Hair and Makeup for its eye-catching pink aesthetic. Star Ryan Gosling won Best Song for his catchy performance of “I’m Just Ken.

On the television side, “Succession” continued its award show streak by winning Best Drama Series. Jeremy Strong took home Best Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Kendall Roy. The genre-bending horror comedy “Beef” was a first time winner, taking home Best Comedy Series.
