It only takes a few touches to mirror your phone’s screen to your television while you’re streaming a movie or playing a game on it.

The tiny screen on your Android phone wasn’t made for participating in Zoom calls or following along with online fitness courses. So you no longer have to strain your eyes to see what’s happening, you can effortlessly cast or mirror the screen of your phone to a nearby TV with only a few clicks. Although you’ll need the right tools for the job, it will prevent possible neck discomfort.

Casting your screen is useful if you want to play a few games of Among Us or show everyone the newest TikTok trend you can’t get enough of, in addition to providing a comfortable watching experience.

What’s best? It’s possible that you already have all you require. If not, getting set up isn’t terribly expensive. Here’s how to start casting or mirroring the display of your Android smartphone or tablet to your TV.

All you need to Mirror your Android phone to your TV

You must have an Android phone or tablet running Android 5.0 or higher to get started. The likelihood is that your phone or tablet is running a newer version of Android since that version was introduced in 2014. Open the Settings app, select About phone, and look for Android version to confirm.

You will also need a Google Chromecast streaming device, such as the recently introduced Chromecast with Google TV, a TV with built-in Chromecast, or a smart display like the Google Nest Hub, in addition to an Android phone or tablet. The simplest approach to determine whether your TV is compatible with Chromecast is to see if it appears as an available casting device when you use either method, if you are unsure.

Using the Google Home app, cast your screen to a TV.

Using the Google Home app is the most dependable and consistent way to mirror the screen of your Android phone. You probably already have it installed if you’ve already configured any of Google’s smart speakers, Nest WiFi, or Chromecast devices. If not, you can get it from the Google Play store.

Select the desired Chromecast device by opening the Home app. Tap the “Cast my Screen” button that will be located at the bottom of the screen. Accept the alert that warns you that anything you see on your phone’s screen will be visible to anybody else in the room on your TV. If your device isn’t prepared for mirroring, you can also receive a second prompt alerting you. When I have encountered the warning, I haven’t had any trouble casting my screen. Click the Cease mirroring button in the Home app to stop screen casting.
Depending on your phone, there might be a simpler method.

It’s not difficult to use the Home app, but there’s a solution that’s even simpler: Utilize the fast settings panel’s Casting shortcut. Swiping down from the top of your Android phone or tablet’s display will bring up the quick settings panel. If you can’t find the Screen Cast option, you may need to hit the pencil symbol to change which options are available in your quick settings panel.

Find the Screen Cast button, click it, and then choose the device from the list you want to mirror your display on. Your phone may need a few seconds to connect to the Chromecast-capable gadget, but once it does, your screen will appear on the TV. Repeat the procedures we just explained to end casting.

Here’s the catch:

A cast button option in the fast settings panel is not available on every phone. If the shortcut option is missing from your phone for an unknown reason, don’t give up. The Home app still lets you mirror your phone.

Always keep in mind that anything and everything that appears on your phone or tablet’s screen will also appear on the TV when you mirror your screen. This means that all notifications and alerts, along with their contents, will be broadcast to everyone. I advise activating Do Not Disturb to reduce interruptions to a minimal. Play slower games instead of more demanding ones like Fortnite because there can be a lag between your phone and TV when casting.
